UGL MEI Westgate tunnel team celebrates anniversary

Recently, the UGL mechanical, electrical and instrumentation (MEI) Westgate Tunnel team marked its one-year anniversary on the project. The team hit the ground running with rapid mobilisation of an experienced group. They have built a reputation for delivering with a focused on safety, achieving operational readiness and supporting the wider project’s success.

The UGL team is responsible for executing engineering detailing, procurement, construction, and commissioning associated with the mechanical, fire, electrical and ITS systems across the entire project, which includes  6.8km of tunnels and 6km of elevated road. The project is scheduled for completion in late 2024.

Presently UGL has more than 200 personnel on the project, and the team will continue to increase over the next 6 months in alignment with schedule.

Project Director, David Colasante congratulated the team on its best-for-project approach and playing a key role on an important project for Victoria.
