UGL worked closely with the ANZAC, and Amphibious Combat and Sealift System Program offices to plan and perform a wide range of asset management and maintenance on ship systems including hull, propulsion, electrical, mechanical, weapon systems, control systems and communication systems.

UGL is one of only four Australian contractors pre-qualified to provide ship refit and repair services for both the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) and United States Navy.

UGL successfully delivered major refurbishment projects on ANZAC Class Frigates, from bases at Rockingham in Western Australia and Sydney’s Garden Island in New South Wales from 2012 - 2022.

ANZAC Class Frigates are long-range escorts capable of countering simultaneous threats from the air, surface and sub-surface. Each Frigate is fitted with an advanced package of air surveillance radars, omni-directional hull mounted sonar and electronic support systems which interface with a state-of-the-art combat data system.

The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) operates eight ANZAC Class Frigates and the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) operates two frigates.
