Ethan Woods, Project Engineer - 2017 CIMIC Group graduate cohort
As part of the 2017 graduate cohort, Ethan experienced 2 different areas of the UGL business during his journey through the CIMIC Group graduate program.
Why did you choose to join the CIMIC Group graduate program?
“One of the main reasons I joined was because of UGL’s reach and diversity. They provide a great platform to see different parts of the industry. I didn’t want to be stuck in one spot and I knew UGL would be able to offer me a bigger view of the world.”
“The program gives you so many opportunities to experience different areas and find out what you enjoy.”
He completed his three rotations providing Ethan with experience across different industries. The rotations saw him join the Centre of Excellence, which looks at new innovations and finds ways to do things better on our sites; a power station shutdown in the procurement team and working on design and tenders in the transport industry.
What have you enjoyed most about the rotations we offer?
The diversity of it all and being able to see different parts of the business. If I hadn’t had these opportunities, I wouldn’t have known if I enjoyed it. I now have a better understanding of the different areas of UGL.
What advice would you give to people a looking to join the program?

Ethan now has a permanent position as a project engineer role focussed on quality assurance and quality control based in Brisbane with regular visits to sites.
