Johann joined the CIMIC Group graduate program in 2018 after having been with UGL for 6 months working in one of our joint venture teams.

The CIMIC Group graduate program offers three 8-month rotations which graduates can work across projects, sectors and operating companies within the Group in Australia. “We had a graduate induction in the February and were introduced to all the recruiters in all the different operating companies. They gave us an overview of each company and their current projects.”
His first rotation was on a solar farm project in Queensland as a graduate project engineer. “I had a lot of autonomy and responsibility and in that situation, I really learnt a great deal.”
Johann wanted to get experience in the mining industry and move back
What advice would you give to someone looking to join the program?
“Research the role you’re applying for and the company. Each company within the Group is varied in what opportunities they have, and where their projects are located.”What advice would you give our new graduates?
“If you want to move around, the most important thing is to network. Take the opportunity CIMIC Group is giving you to network, for example at the induction. Make sure you meet all the recruiters, and other employees across the Group and ask them what’s going on. At the end of the day those are the people who will be able to provide you with the information you need.”"You must be proactive and drive your career. If you’re someone who is a self-starter, then this program is for you."
