The Diversity, Inclusion & Social Committee from the UGL Perth office is passionate about supporting the communities in which we live and work.

Earlier this year, the committee welcomed guest speaker Clare Dimer, Senior Social Worker from King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) in Subiaco, Western Australia. Clare explained that mothers often are flown in from regional areas to the hospital, for emergency delivery of their babies and arrive at the hospital with nothing. Many with no family support networks, no supplies for their babies and no financial support.

The Committee, chaired by Kevin Miller, Senior Project Manager put the word out to the Perth office for donations to support the invaluable work done by Clare and her team at the hospital.

The request was met with an overwhelmingly generous response. Kevin Miller and Gningala Yarran-Mark delivered the items to the hospital shortly afterwards.

“We got to Margaret River Hospital at 5:30am and he was born at 6:31am,” Sarah said.
“I didn’t have anything yet; no cot, no pram, no clothes – definitely no hospital bag!”
Sarah arrived only with the clothes she was wearing and stayed at the hospital for seven weeks with her baby. Following this, they travelled back home to Margaret River.

Sarah was very excited by the generous donations made by UGL, with the items helping her cater to the needs of her baby.

The Perth Diversity, Inclusion & Social Committee continue to provide generous support to the most vulnerable in the communities in which we work and live.

Thank you to everyone for continuing to dig deep and support the efforts of the Perth office Diversity, Inclusion & Social Committee.
