Apprenticeships and traineeships

UGL supports new to industry recruits through our apprenticeship and traineeship program. This year we have onboarded 87 new recruits, made up of 72 apprentices and 15 traineeships.
 

The program helps to build in-demand capabilities at UGL.

The apprentices and trainees have joined UGL at sites across Australia this year. Joining teams in both the Services, Projects and Transport Divisions, in trades including electrical, mechanical and welding.

UGL supports new to industry recruits and upskilling current employees through our apprenticeship and traineeship program. Currently, we have 98 individuals in the program, made up of 82 apprentices and 16 traineeships. UGL employed 39 new trainees during 2021.

The program helps to build in-demand capabilities at UGL, and we are focused on how we extend this program to meet the demand for technical skills over the next 10 years.

The apprentices and trainees have joined UGL at sites across Australia this year. Joining teams in both the Services, Transport and Projects Divisions in trades including electrical, mechanical, linespersons, and welding.

Hearing from some of our apprentices, Connor Fryar, Rail Traction Apprentice said:

“UGL has provided me with great exposure to the apprenticeship I am doing. The others in my TAFE class are not getting anywhere near the experiences that I have achieved with UGL.” 

Upon the successful completion of the program, it is anticipated our apprentices will be offered a full-time role, so they can continue to build on their knowledge learnt and provide capability to UGL.
