To this end, UGL Rail is committed to conducting its operations in strict accordance with all environmental legislation, regulations and codes of practice including AS/NZS ISO 14001 and by establishing processes and plans for environmental due diligence using a risk based management approach.

Over and above the legislative requirements we are proud to be involved in business contracts for both State run rail organisations as well as private companies both here and overseas that form part of the rail transport system. The rail system is a key tool for reducing the environmental impact of transport. As part of this our technology solutions actively aim to minimise the environmental impact on the communities within which we work.

As part of the response to climate change a Carbon Trading Scheme is to be introduced into Australia in the next three to five years. The scheme will engage many of the top Australian ASX companies and we will be working with them and the rail industry to understand the impact of the scheme and how we and the broader rail industry together with our clients will need to respond.
