The USafe logo is the key visual prompt for safety at UGL Rail. USafe is a way of working; it operates on the principle that “safety happens when YOU take responsibility.” Everybody who works with or for us has a right to go home in the same or better condition than when they arrived at work.

Current USafe based programs include:

• HazOb – Hazard observation and reporting (also includes safety suggestions)
• UTake5 – A personal hazard assessment to encourage employees to check to see that they understand task, hazards, controls
• STARR – A program used to empower observers to identify if training is effective combined with field visits to observe people applying training
• Checkit – a mandatory program of scheduled internal inspections and updating registers
• UWALK – A unique program developed at UGL Rail designed to encourage Managers to visit the workplace and confirm safety performance is at a required level
