Amanda Donnelly - Project Controls Engineer

Amanda Donnelly is a Project Controls Engineer on one of UGL's resources sites in Queensland.

“My role currently involves managing the project budget inclusive of the change management process, interrogating and interpreting the outage data feeds for cost and schedule, in turn forecasting expected completion costs.

“I’d had exposure to UGL through my previous employer and was offered a role on the new contract through the relationships I’d developed in this time.  I was looking for new opportunities outside of the mining industry at the time and this project seemed like a great way to gain experience in the power generation industry, an area that I hadn’t been exposed to before.”

First day at UGL

“My superintendent took me on a tour of the boiler, explaining the plant and how it operated. This proved to be a good foundation for the knowledge I’d need to complete my first role in quality assurance. Power stations are interesting pieces of equipment, given their size and complexity in such a small footprint.”

What I love about my role at UGL

“The best part of my job is when I can get out onto the work front and see firsthand the maintenance and repairs we complete and the methods we use to complete it. This helps to get the full picture of how an outage operates.”

Working at UGL

“Learning and development is well supported within our teams, everyone should always be on the lookout for ways to learn new things and develop new skills as opportunities for personal and professional growth.”
