Partnerships

The partnerships we have in place aim to give our people and community organisations opportunities to build relationships and raise greater awareness around diversity.

We leverage the strengths, resources and knowledge from both our UGL employees and our partners to broaden our inclusive and diverse team culture.

Indigenous participation

South Cares

Souths Cares is an independent not-for-profit public benevolent institution, established to support the local community and address social need across the South Sydney region. Its charter is to support disadvantaged and marginalised youth and their families through the delivery of capacity building programs addressing education, training, health and employment needs.

NASCA

NASCA utilises the power of structured educational, sporting and cultural programs to harness the educational, employment and health aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.

For over 25 years, NASCA has worked closely with communities to strengthen cultural pride and identity, and build life skills, personal development and long-term resilience. NASCA has been actively involved in some communities for over 15 years.

NASCA is a 100 % Indigenous governed and led organisation that works in collaboration with schools and communities for meaningful and lasting engagement.

The Clontarf Foundation

Founded in Western Australia in 2000, The Clontarf Foundation uses a unique, innovative and highly successful approach to target one of the most at risk groups in contemporary Australian society – young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.

UGL has a long running national partnership with Clontarf Foundation that, over the last few years, has resulted in:

  • Over 100 visits by UGL staff to various Clontarf nominated schools across Australia
  • Over 50 student visits to UGL sites across Australia
  • UGL's locations in Townsville such as Nebo offering a number of school-based traineeships
  • The sponsorship of a careers festival through UGL Unipart.

Career Trackers

The Career Trackers program is designed to make student interns, employers and communities successful. 100% of Career Trackers Alumni are employed in professional roles, while 68% were rated in the top performance category in their most recent workplace evaluation.

UGL have partnered with Career Trackers since 2019. Career Trackers supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students by linking them with employers for paid, multi-year internships. Each student completes 12-week paid internships each year with a partner organisation matched to their career aspirations and their degrees.

Xplore

With a firm focus on women, Xplore has been sowing the seeds of workplace equality and inclusion for almost 20 years. Xplore enables individuals and leaders to clarify their purpose, accelerate their career, embrace inclusion and lead with passion. The Xplore program is an inclusion-driven initiative that UGL employs to identify and develop its high performing women, ensuring they have the opportunity to demonstrate their and skills talents across all organisational functions, regardless of gender.

UNSW

UGL has partnered with UNSW Engineering Society and Women in Engineering Society as the platinum sponsor for their Industry Engagement Program. The program offers a unique opportunity for UGL to provider mentorship, identify early talent and promote females into the engineering industry and at UGL.

UGL Veterans

PM Veterans Employment Program

This program raises the awareness of the skills, values and experiences Veterans bring to the civilian workplace. The program offers initiatives to support the transition of veterans into the civilian workplace.

Legacy Brisbane

Legacy cares for the families of Australian Defence Force men and women who have lost their lives or their health as a result of their military service to the country. They provide the essential social, financial and developmental support that these families depend on each day.

As part of UGL’s partnership, we will be involved in several key events to highlight Veterans’ services, the support that Legacy provides to families and the importance of giving.

Inclusion champions

City East Community College

UGL supports the integration of professionally skilled migrants and refugees into employment, promoting social inclusion, creating employment pathways and ease the transition of professionally skilled migrants and refugees into life and work in Australia.

UGL has formalised a mentoring program and partnership with City East Community College (CEC) that enables UGL employees to mentor skilled migrants in fostering confidence and their transition into Australian employment opportunities. An intended drive for UGL mentors will commence in early 2022.

CareerSeekers

Career Seekers provides a program to support humanitarian entrants into professional careers. The program provides support to both refugees and people seeking asylum who are currently studying at university or looking to restart their professional career in Australia.

At UGL we have provided a number of successful internships to those in the CareerSeekers program.

Autism Spectrum Australia

In partnership with Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect), UGL is leading the drive for inclusion by recruiting a neuro-diverse workforce.

UGL’s neurodiversity focus is to create workplace opportunities across UGL for people on the spectrum who have key skills in STEM that are relevant to the UGL business. UGL works in partnership with Aspect, an autism spectrum-based charity to source, select and appoint differently abled candidates.
