In the community

Our people are the integral link into the communities in which we operate. We collaborate with local groups and individuals to support the initiatives that recognise the diversity of our communities.

R U OK? Days

Each year UGL teams raise awareness of the importance of connecting with workmates who might be experiencing life challenges by recognising Rail R U OK? Day in April and R U OK? Day in September.

R U OK? Days raise awareness of physical and mental wellbeing by engaging our people in conversations by asking one simple question: "Are you OK?"

Teams arrange R U OK? Day events to connect with teammates and raise funds for the R U OK? Day Foundation.

Rail Safety Week

At UGL, we build and maintain trains and want everyone in the community to be safe around trains and railway tracks. We’re a proud supporter of Rail Safety Week and founding member of the TrackSafe Foundation, that organises the week.

Each year UGL teams join TrackSAFE and other rail operators, police units and government organisations to celebrate Rail Safety Week to engage people in our local communities, around Australia and New Zealand, to raise awareness of safety around level crossings, railway tracks and railway and tram networks.

Supporting the lifeblood of the community

UGL teams from our rail facility in Broadmeadow regularly donate blood for their local Newcastle community, and are ranked in the top 50 Australian Red Cross Red Groups.

A Good Wicket with the Manifold Cricket Club

On and off the cricket pitch, UGL teams engage with their local community through our sponsorship of the Manifold Heights Cricket Club and our support for the VIVA Energy community engagement program in Geelong Victoria.
