Last month Vena Energy hosted a barbeque at the Tailem Bend 2 Solar Project (TB2SP) in recognition of all participants who undertook construction ready training. UGL's Construction Manager, Jack Connors, together with Vena Energy’s Site Manager, Walter Jackson, welcomed employees, contractors and guests onsite with a special acknowledgement to all training participants.

This year TB2SP has successfully provided the following site-specific training to UGL employees:

  • Telehandler (onsite)
  • Dogging (offsite)
  • EWP +11Mtrs (offsite)
  • First Aid LV-CPR Rescue (onsite)
  • Firefighting (onsite)
  • Snake Handling

Allan Jones, RAW Group Owner, is working with UGL and Vena Energy to create sustainable employment opportunities for Aboriginal men and women residing in the southern regions of South Australia. Allan spoke about the Group's commitment to achieving Aboriginal equality in the workplace. They currently have three Aboriginal people working onsite through RAW who have also completed construction ready training.

At the conclusion of the event, special guest and former Port Adelaide player, Peter Burgoyne, presented Owen Sela, Head of Vena Energy Australia, and Ben Cooper, UGL General Manager New Energy & Resources, with their very own guernseys, followed by a celebratory barbeque for everyone.

UGL is delivering the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the Tailem Bend 2 Solar Project for Vena Energy.
