UGL is always happy to give a helping hand to local community organisations. Our Hunter Power Project (HPP) team supported a call from Carrie’s Place Domestic Violence and Homelessness Services Inc. as the chosen charity for the 50:50 raffle during National Rugby League’s Round 11 – Newcastle Knights v's Titans.
We were part of a group of 25 volunteers who gave their time and effort – on Mother’s Day, nothing less – to sell raffle tickets to footy enthusiasts during the match for a grand total of $10,296. Half of the money raised was given as a prize to the lucky ticket holder and the other half went to Carrie’s Place as support for their great cause.
And the cherry on top: A victory for the home team!
UGL’s HPP Project Director John Battaglia was happy with our successful contribution:
“We are always ready to support local efforts that make a positive impact in the communities where we work. While this aligns with our principles of integrity and delivery, it’s also the right thing to do as good neighbours and active members of the Lower Hunter community.”
