Good communication reaps positive environmental outcome

UGL is committed to sustainability, and we see it as a long term, dynamic and strategic imperative. Our people play an important role in ensuring we are sustainable.

Logistics Supervisor, Russell Sharpe and Site Supervisor, Martin Koop have been awarded a UGL Very Best Award for Customer, for their environmental and cost saving contribution to one of our projects.

When our joint venture (JV) partner was conducting a de-watering, which saw the water being discharged off-site, Russell and Martin identified the water as ‘clean’. This meant the water could be pumped out of our water carts and re-used.

The client was very impressed with this initiative as it led to a positive environmental outcome and cost savings.

“Congratulations to both Russell and Martin on being recognised for their efforts. Good communication at our weekly JV meeting enabled this to happen,” says Project Manager – Rail, Andy Pawley who nominated them for the award.
