The UGL team of Peter Bird, Mark Abbott, and Brendan Edwards has been awarded a Very Best Award for Delivery after their work on a repair to an underground service (potable water) that had developed an unknown leak at the QGC Midstream Facility.
During the initial scope of work and through a pot holing process, it was realised the leak was significantly worse than the initial estimation, and the risk to the QGC facility was more significant than originally understood.
This resulted in our client having to remove all personnel from the site as the leak impacted their ability to maintain the required water levels in the process system that maintain critical safety and personal hygiene facilities onsite. As a result, the team had to expedite the procurement of equipment, personnel, and materials to rectify the issue in a timely manner.
Whilst procuring everything needed for the job, the team was able to safely perform a temporary fix, which allowed QGC to resume operations at a reduced capacity.
It also allowed the final fix to be performed at a time that was less impactful on normal site operations. The team worked over a holiday weekend to get the job done.
Well done to the team!
