Some of our new energy plus operations and maintenance utilities team at UGL attended the KARI Foundation Aboriginal Games to support NAIDOC Week.
The KARI Foundation creates meaningful connections that share and celebrate Aboriginal culture through various programs including culture, sport and healthy lifestyle, employment, education, and leadership.
Held at the Prince Henry Centre in Little Bay, New South Wales, the event featured four activities providing an immersive experience in Aboriginal culture. Each activity was designed to promote cultural understanding, togetherness, and unity:
- cultural trivia celebrating Aboriginal history and culture that tested knowledge
- cultural cooking showcasing traditional culinary techniques by preparing barramundi wrapped in tree paperbark with wild rice, lemon, and myrtle
- traditional Indigenous games learning and playing games such as boomerang and spear throwing, and
- cultural art where the team painted a canvas incorporating symbols of renewable energy into the artwork, reflecting UGL’s commitment to sustainability and respect for Aboriginal culture.
By participating in events like the KARI Foundation Aboriginal Games, UGL continues to demonstrate its dedication to cultural understanding, togetherness, and unity. We are proud to support such initiatives and look forward to contributing to the celebration and preservation of Aboriginal culture in the future.
