Michael Currington - Driving Innovation at UGL
Michael joined UGL in February 2024 as part of the graduate program and quickly became a key contributor to the Humelink West project. His journey began with procurement of long-lead high-voltage equipment, design reviews, and construction sequencing. He then expanded into quality and safety planning and detailed site scheduling.
Today, Michael oversees on-site construction to ensure safe, efficient progress, while driving innovation through streamlined procurement solutions — such as customizing cable and drum schedules and coil lengths — and managing complex subcontractor packages for electrical panels and substation security systems.
"I didn’t expect to win the award and am humbled to be selected among such a talented cohort,” shares Michael. “It’s an honour and a reminder that hard work and dedication are appreciated."
Michael credits his manager and his team for their support and motivation throughout his graduate program.
