At UGL, we’re proud to be leading the charge towards sustainability with our innovative site power solutions. These hybrid energy solutions are designed to reduce reliance on diesel generators, lower emissions, and provide reliable power to remote sites — all while supporting our broader corporate sustainability goals.
UGL's site power system combines solar panels, battery storage, and inverters, housed in a 20ft container for easy transportation and setup. Solar energy powers the site office whenever possible, with the battery storing excess energy. A generator remains on standby, automatically kicking in when demand exceeds the stored capacity, ensuring uninterrupted power. This clever integration delivers flexibility, efficiency, and reliability.
Additionally, UGL is introducing renewable energy solutions like solar-powered lighting for car parks and construction areas, further cutting carbon footprints and hire costs.
Our pilot power system, installed for the site office at Neoen Australia’s Collie Battery in Western Australia, has already shown impressive results, offsetting 16.08MWh of energy demand in its first quarter of operation. The site is achieving near 100% self-generated power consumption, cutting emissions and reducing operational costs.
What sets our site power system and other solutions apart is their scalability and flexibility. The power system can expand as power demands grow, operates with 24/7 real-time monitoring, and balances cost efficiency with environmental benefits. Importantly, our power system was designed in-house, pioneered in response to the need for more sustainable energy options across UGL projects.
By reducing diesel dependency and increasing energy efficiency, UGL is paving the way for a cleaner, greener future — while meeting the unique challenges of remote worksites. With five units built and more to come, we’re proud to play a leading role in reshaping how the construction and infrastructure industries approach energy. Together, we’re building a sustainable tomorrow.
