As Stage 2 of Neoen’s Collie Battery project nears the end of construction, the UGL new energy team has wrapped up its staff rental housing in the town of Collie, Western Australia, leaving a positive community impact.
UGL donated household furniture, bedding, and kitchenware to two vital local charities. It was a heartfelt gesture of thanks to the Collie community, which has warmly welcomed and supported the project team over the past two years.
Large items such as lounge suites, bed frames, mattresses, entertainment units, and coffee tables were delivered to the St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies) Collie store. Store managers Ann and Carole expressed their appreciation, saying, "The Vinnies store supports the local Collie community, and we’re proud to provide directly to those in need."
Meanwhile, freestanding fans, electric blankets, bed linen, towels, cookware, and more found a new home at the Anglican Parish of Collie Church Op Shop. Joolz, the store’s coordinator, shared her gratitude: “We’re very grateful for the donations, and it's wonderful to see these items repurposed instead of wasted.”
Deborah McErlean, UGL Lead Travel Coordinator, selected the organisations, “It was a small way of giving back to a community that’s housed and supported us,” she said. “Both Vinnies and the Church Op Shop do incredible work to help the homeless and those doing it tough.”
Sandeep Kamath, UGL Project Manager lived in Collie while he worked on the project, “Collie has been a home away from home,” said Sandeep. “Donating these items is our way of giving back to a community that welcomed us. It’s rewarding to know they’ll now support others in need.”
At UGL, we believe our projects are more than just infrastructure — they’re opportunities to create lasting, positive change in the communities where we work. Whether in major cities or regional towns like Collie, we’re proud to stand alongside local partners to deliver real value.
