Leadership goes beyond business, it’s about inspiring the next generation and creating a meaningful impact in the communities in which we operate. Our UGL leaders recognise their responsibility to foster growth, support innovation, and pave the way for future talent in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
Anthony Hodge, General Manager – Rail and Technology Systems at UGL, recently presented at AREEA’s Bright Future STEM program, bringing the world of STEM to life for young students. His visit to Camberwell Primary School was an exciting opportunity to engage with students about his career, what makes his job fun, and how his journey in STEM began.
Anthony shared how his early passion for building and technology shaped his career path. From playing with Duplo as a child, progressing to Lego, and later to advanced Lego Technic sets, he developed a deep appreciation for problem-solving and engineering. Today, he utilises STEM in a continually evolving and complex environment, finding excitement in the technical challenges and solutions. His message to students was clear: the skills they develop today through play, curiosity, and learning can lead to a rewarding career in STEM.
“It was inspiring to see the energy and passion these young students have for STEM,” says Anthony. “The technical depth of the questions was impressive, reinforcing my belief in that society has a bright future in STEM industries.”.
As a company committed to being on the forefront of technology, we take pride in supporting STEM education and shaping future talent by partnering with local businesses, educational institutions, and community organisations. Our leaders are strong advocates of STEM development, actively engaging in initiatives that make a difference, ensuring today’s students become the problem-solvers, innovators, and engineering leaders of the future.
