The 2025 Women in Construction, Engineering & Infrastructure Summit, hosted by the Women Leaders Institute in partnership with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), brought together industry leaders, advocates, and changemakers to tackle some of the biggest cultural and structural challenges facing the sector. Across two days of panels, workshops, and case studies, a clear theme emerged: achieving gender equity, inclusivity, and cultural change requires deliberate, collective action from leaders, businesses, and individuals.
UGL Communications Engineer, Kate Leone attended the event. "The conference reinforced the importance of inclusive practices and visible leadership to help people—especially women—thrive in their careers."
Driving Cultural Change: Leadership in Action
The event opened with Cathryn Greville, NAWIC CEO, who emphasised the importance of creating fair, respectful, and inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive.
At UGL, we have created a Gender Equality Action Plan (GEAP) to give us a roadmap towards achieving better gender balance. UGL values the benefit of a diverse and inclusive workplace. We recognise that attracting, developing and retaining a broad mix of people enriches us as a company, and is essential to our continued creativity, competitiveness, and sustainable business growth.
Participating and actively listening in events like this one, helps us to learn from our peers and become industry role models for gender balance.
Equity and Inclusion: The Role of Leadership
Workshops focused on how leaders can drive change by addressing unconscious bias, taking accountability for culture shifts, and fostering psychologically safe environments.
UGL is proud to support conversations that drive positive change. Together, we’re building an inclusive future.
