UGL’s 2022–2025 Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) reflects our dedication to fostering reconciliation by creating meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, businesses, and communities. Through this RAP, we actively worked towards building sustainable, respectful, and impactful relationships that leave a lasting legacy.
One of the key achievements of our RAP has been the significant growth in employment opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. UGL has made strides to expand its workforce diversity by attracting and supporting the career advancement of individuals from these communities. Similarly, our procurement practices have strengthened, with UGL investing $120 million with Aboriginal businesses to date.
We have secured two strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with ARRA Group and iDiC. These relationships enhance our ability to connect meaningfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders. We have also focused heavily on cultural engagement, having conducted cultural immersion tours for senior leaders across New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria. Another tour is planned for Perth this year to further contribute to cultural understanding within UGL's leadership.
As we look to complete 2025, our focus is on achieving the remaining deliverables of the RAP. We remain committed to further growing employment pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people while continuing to support their career progression through leadership development initiatives.
In procurement, we are actively identifying and engaging Aboriginal businesses to diversify and strengthen our supply chain. More than 100 Aboriginal businesses have partnered with us through our procurement initiatives, demonstrating the critical role of collaboration in achieving reconciliation goals.
Our cultural competency efforts remain crucial, with more than 1,400 employees already having completed face-to-face cultural awareness training. The rollout of our cultural competency framework will continue, deepening the knowledge and understanding of our workforce.
Looking ahead, we have begun planning for the next stage in our reconciliation journey, the 2026–2029 Stretch RAP. By building on the progress we’ve made through our current plan, we aim to exceed the goals we’ve set for ourselves, ensuring even greater impact.
Our commitment to reconciliation is unwavering, and we are excited to continue working together with communities, partners, and businesses to contribute toward a more inclusive and equitable future.
