“Nothing beats seeing real progress unfold in front of you.”
Sina Soren, UGL Electrical Project Engineer, has a hands-on approach with a readiness to proactively tackle any challenges.
Since joining UGL, Sina has been based in Queensland's Western Downs region working on the Western Downs Battery Energy Storage System project. He played a significant role in delivering Stage 2, which wrapped up at the end of 2024 and is now workig on stage 3.
For Sina, the field is where engineering comes alive.
“I enjoy being out on site and seeing things progress first-hand. That practical, on-the-ground environment really motivates me.”
Early in his UGL journey, Sina found strong mentors.
“The construction managers and electrical supervisors have been great. They’re always happy to jump in, work through any challenges together, or guide you in the right direction.”
Sina says the team culture has made all the difference.
“When things get busy and multiple priorities need to be managed at once, the team steps in to help. That supportive mindset is ingrained in the culture.”
Outside engineering, Sina pursues another passion: tracking market trends.
“I follow the stock market closely and keep an eye on global movements. Investing is something I’m keen to become more involved in.”
From his work on one of Australia’s major energy storage projects to the curiosity and ambition he brings to continuous learning, Sina is a great example of the adaptability and drive that power UGL’s teams.
