UGL, CPB Contractors and TasWater will establish an alliance to manage infrastructure planning, project development and delivery of capital works across TasWater’s regional asset network in Tasmania. Part of the alliance is the commitment to utilising and building local capability and capacity by prioritising local business participation.
TasWater’s capital program includes works on water and wastewater treatment plants, water networks, dams and water storage, and general asset renewal programs.

TasWater’s Bryn Estyn Water Treatment Plant Upgrade is now fully operational, heralding a new era of reliable water supply for greater Hobart. This accomplishment allows for the daily delivery of an impressive 160 million litres of water, benefiting over 200,000 customers.
The upgraded plant has been meticulously designed with in-built capacity to meet future demand and delivers the highest quality drinking water for the communities of Hobart. It is a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and dedication that has achieved positive outcomes for the client, TasWater, their stakeholders and customers.
The project was delivered on time and under budget, underscoring the dedication of the team. This project also provided opportunities for numerous Tasmanian based businesses during construction, contributing to the local economy, and fostering community growth.

The expansion of TasWater’s Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant is now underway and once operational, it will better support the needs of Hobart’s growing population.
Designed to replace a Macquarie Point treatment facility built in the 1970s, the upgraded Selfs Point Treatment Plant will deliver improved treatment capacity and environmental outcomes and feature state-of-the-art facilities and treatment technologies. Its treatment capacity will more than double, going from 10.4 Megalitres a day to 24.9 Megalitres a day, improving water quality and reducing nutrient discharge into the Derwent River by 50%.
UGL and CPB Contractors project delivery teams will integrate advanced membrane bioreactor technology into the facility, which will set a new standard for environmental stewardship in Tasmania.
The TasWater Alliance, a partnership between TasWater, UGL and CPB Contractors, is driving the delivery of this expansion project as part of the TasWater Capital Works program.
