When running a plant or an offshore platform, safely maintaining production is a top priority.
Our IAS Group and IC Integrity team, part of UGL’s Services Division in Western Australia, supports the ongoing safety and reliability of critical infrastructure across the whole of Australia, and one of the tools used in that work is Technowrap™.
What is Technowrap™?
Technowrap™ is UGL's composite wrap repair solution for industrial assets. It’s a two-part resin and cloth system used to reinforce pipes, tanks and structural components that have been affected by corrosion or damage. It can be applied while equipment remains live, which helps avoid unnecessary shutdowns.
Why it's useful
Traditional repairs typically involve removing steel and welding in new material, a process that can be costly, time‑intensive and operationally challenging. Technowrap™ provides an alternative approach that can be installed more quickly and with fewer disruptions, including no hot work requirement. It’s engineered to perform reliably for years, including in demanding conditions such as extreme temperatures or underwater environments.
Where we use it
Our UGL team applies Technowrap™ across a variety of assets, including:
- pipes and pressure systems in plants
- offshore risers and subsea pipelines
- structural components like decks, beams and tanks
How we approach each repair
Every application starts with an engineering assessment to determine the most appropriate solution. Depending on the requirements, glass or carbon fibre cloth and epoxy resins are selected, supported by advanced analysis where necessary. Our technicians then carry out the installation, providing quick turnaround with minimal disruption.
The result
UGL's Technowrap™ helps extend the life of our clients' assets and reduce environmental impact compared with full steel replacement. It’s practical, proven, and backed by decades of experience.
