Annie Song's career is a story of growth and meaningful impact.
Migrating to Australia in 2004, she joined UGL's Eastlink project in Victoria as a finance officer when her first son was just eight months old - laying the foundation for a dynamic career. After four years, Annie moved into UGL’s rail division, where she steadily advanced through roles while welcoming her second son, building her expertise and influence along the way.
Today, as finance manager for UGL's rail and technology systems business, Annie combines sharp analytical skills with a human-centred approach. She partners with project managers, operational leads, and senior leadership to turn financial data into strategic insights that drive better outcomes.
“Finance has evolved beyond number crunching,” Annie says. “It’s about strategic thinking, driving improvement, and collaborating to strengthen the business.” Whether mentoring her team, guiding line managers or working with corporate colleagues, Annie champions smarter ways of working, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
“I take pride in helping people connect the dots,” she says. “When they understand what’s behind the numbers and how we can improve, that’s when real progress happens.”
For Annie, leadership means clarity and growth. “Leadership is really about helping others see the bigger picture and grow.”
UGL's current and emerging leaders have access to a wide range of opportunities to support their leadership growth at every stage of their careers.
