For the past two and a half years, Jeremy Kalafatis has been at the forefront of UGL’s telecommunications business working as an estimator. His journey is unique - not only because he was one of the first employees in the newly established team in mid-2022, but also because he has played a key role in shaping its foundation.
"We started as a small group working closely with senior management, moving at an incredibly fast pace," Jeremy shares. "I’ve been able to gain exposure across different areas of the UGL business, rather than being confined to just one role, and that’s been an exciting challenge."
One of the defining moments in Jeremy’s time at UGL was leading the estimation for the Telstra InfraCo Intercity Fibre Network project. This involves the design and construction of over 3,600km of fibre optic network, connecting Darwin, Glendambo, Wilmington, and Melbourne - an infrastructure project critical to Australia’s telecommunications network.
Outside of work, Jeremy loves to travel, especially to Europe. "Being of Greek heritage, I enjoy connecting with my roots and experiencing new cultures. Soccer is also a big passion of mine." Jeremy values UGL’s growth and flexibility. "I’ve worked in both the telecommunications and utilities businesses. UGL supports career movement and growth - it's an exciting place to be." With a fast-growing telecommunications business and a culture that promotes professional development, Jeremy’s journey at UGL is just getting started.
